Freyja is a contemporary ballet performance that explores the many facets of women, womanhood, femininity, gender, and expression. Freyja prominently features women and feminine-identified choreographers, composers, and dancers to underscore the creative contributions of women to art, dance, and culture. This dance experience will explore the themes of feminine expression, oppression, misogyny, love, relationships, freedom, confinement, joy, and grief through a beautifully danced and thoughtful choreographic narrative.

Central Oklahoma Ballet Theatre is delighted to present another captivating performance on May 28th at 2pm and 7pm for an evening of original choreography and artistry in an exploration of Polarities.

Exposing Polarities: Between the Spaces is a contemporary dance performance with original choreography from Oklahoma artists and choreographers which seeks to explore the polarities of the human experience: life/death, black/white, male/female, gay/straight, right/wrong. The intention is to show that life happens between the spaces of these apparent opposites and to showcase the artistry and gifts of diverse Oklahoma dancers and choreographers. Exposing Polarities will engage audiences with the philosophical and practical questions of living between two poles and aims to create an immersive and unique creative experience for Oklahoma audiences.

Show Dates/Times:

Polarities will premiere on May 28th, 2022 at 2pm and 7pm in the University Oklahoma School of Dance, room 3002.

This concept perfectly describes the intersection between the freedom of jazz, and the precise technical artistry of ballet.

Soignè is an evening of curated jazz music and originally choreographed pieces designed to capture the essence of elegant sophistication.

Immediately following the 7pm evening performance, there will be an intimate champagne and dessert “meet the artists” reception followed by a silent auction with fabulous prizes.

This intimate performance will feature a selection of popular variations from ballet favorites such as Sleeping Beauty, La Fille Ma Garde, Spring Water, the iconic Swan Lake Act II and original choreography from COBT Creative Director Sterlin Mosley and Co-creative Director Catie Tramel.

Fall 2019 Placement Class & Enrollment Day!

If you plan to enroll in CODC’s Fall 2019 semester, please join us on Saturday, August 10th at 10AM for our annual placement class and enrollment day!

Every dancer planning to enroll is required to attend. Scholarship and financial assistance applicants are also expected to attend the placement class.

Whether you are a new student or you have danced for Ms. Catie previously, we expect all dancers to attend and to evaluated with their peers and then placed in the appropriate level for their skill set.

We look forward to meeting everyone on August 10th!

Join the founders of CODC for an exclusive preview of original choreography by Artistic Directors Sterlin Mosley, Catie Tramel and Laura Pratt and the unveiling of their artistic vision and plans for the future. The founders will discuss plans for Central Oklahoma Dance Academy and guests will enjoy a behind the scenes look at how dance students prepare for performances, while they officially kick-off their inaugural fundraising campaign.
