DRESS CODE

2020-2021

If a student is dressed inappropriately, the student will not be allowed to participate in class.

Warm-ups must be removed prior to class, unless the teacher gives permission due to cold weather or injury.

We partner with Queen of Hart’s Dancewear for our dress code.

FEMALE IDENTIFIED STUDENTS

· Students must wear the proper leotard color for their level.

· Hair must be neat and secured away from the face in a ballet bun or other streamlined style; no ponytails. If hair is short, it must be secured by barrettes or a headband.

· Underwear should not be worn under dance attire (like swimsuits).

· No watches, bracelets, necklaces, or dangling earrings.

CLASS SPECIFIC UNIFORMS:

Pre- Ballet A:  BLOCH Parem CL5607 Girls Spaghetti Strap Leotard in Light Pink, pink tights. Pink canvas or leather ballet flats.

Pre-Ballet B:  BLOCH Parem CL5607 Girls Spaghetti Strap Leotard in Turquoise, pink tights. Pink canvas or leather ballet flats.

Level I:  BLOCH Parem CL5607 Girls Spaghetti Strap Leotard in Burgundy, pink tights. Pink canvas or leather ballet flats. White hip alignment belt.

Level II:  BLOCH Parem CL5607 Girls Spaghetti Strap Leotard in Navy, pink tights. Pink canvas ballet flats. White hip alignment belt.

Level III:  BLOCH Parem CL5607 Girls Spaghetti Strap Leotard in Gray, pink convertible tights. Pink canvas ballet flats. White hip alignment belt. Pointe shoes only after permission has been given by instructor. For this level, it is also a good idea to have a blue Theraband on hand.

Open Teen and Adult Ballet:  Leotards and tights are preferred, but you may wear comfortable clothes you can move in, such as leggings or fitted yoga pants and t-shirts. If you are wearing a shirt instead of a leotard, please wear an appropriate sports bra. Canvas or leather ballet slippers.

Open Contemporary:  Leotards and tights or leggings are preferred, but you may wear t-shirts or tank tops with a sports bra. No crop tops or bras without full coverage. Socks or footies if you prefer those to bare feet.

MALE IDENTIFIED STUDENTS

· No watches or jewelry; if hair is long, it must be styled away from the face.

· Underwear should be worn under tights; dancers 12 and older must wear a dance belt.

Ballet Classes: White t-shirt and black tights. Black or white canvas ballet slippers; if white shoes are worn, thin white dress socks should also be worn.

Open Teen and Adult Ballet:  Tights and t-shirts are preferred. Tank tops may be worn if not baggy; fitted sweatpants may also be an option. Canvas ballet shoes.

Open Contemporary:  T-shirts with either tights or dance shorts are preferred, but you may wear exercise pants or unitards. Socks or bare feet.

For non-ballet workshops, featured Pilates and Zumba master classes, etc., please abide by the following:

· If you raise your hands, other class participants should NOT see your belly button.

· If you touch your toes, we should NOT see your bottom.

· NO overly baggy shirts or pants that will restrict movement are permissible. Wear clothes you can move in.

· Logos and words are permissible, unless offensive or profane.

· Absolutely NO denim and no hoodies are acceptable.

· Cover any chest cleavage with an appropriate shirt.

· A bra does not qualify as a top.
