Daniel Cooke

Daniel Cooke, from Washington, DC, received his early training with Mary Day at the Washington School of Ballet. He completed his training at the Orlando Ballet School and Canada’s National Ballet School in the class of Alexander Gorbatsevich and Sergiu Stefanschi. Cooke joined Oklahoma City Ballet as a corps de ballet dancer in 2020 after dancing for American Repertory Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Het Nationale Ballet, and The National Ballet of Canada.

His repertoire includes works by Frederick Ashton, Rudolf Nureyev, George Balanchine, Dwight Rhoden, Septime Webre, Kirk Peterson, James Kudelka, Sir Peter Wright, Alexei Ratmansky, Hans van Manen, George Williamson, Remi Wortmeyer, Ted Brandsen and Ernst Meisner, and solos by Eric Gautier. Favorite roles include Albrecht in Giselle, Prince Desire and Diamonds in The Sleeping Beauty, Oberon in The Dream, Apollo in Apollo, and The Dancer in Ballet 101.

Cooke is a recipient of the Estelle Dennis Scholarship, a Mary Day Scholar, and competed at the Youth America Grand Prix competition winning a bronze medal for his performance. He was a student of lauded American ballerina and Muse of George Balanchine, Suzanne Farrell for ten years before joining the Suzanne Farrell Ballet for its final seasons. In addition, Cooke has choreographed two works for the Dutch National Ballet.
